Seminar and Annual Meeting

Appreciating the Joys and Embracing the Challenges

Welcome to the 2015 annual seminar of the National Organization of Blind Educators (NOBE). We hope that our seminar today gives you an opportunity to learn some useful strategies, network with blind colleagues, and enjoy the many possibilities in this rich profession. We are glad you’ve joined us. As you await the beginning of our meeting, we hope you enjoy the following quotations about teaching:

“A teacher affects eternity: he can never tell where his influence stops.”
--Henry Adams

“By learning you will teach; by teaching you will understand.”
--Latin Proverb

“It is the supreme art of the teacher to awaken joy in creative expression and knowledge.”
--Albert Einstein

“To me, education is a leading out of what is already there in the pupil's soul.”
--Muriel Spark

“A teacher's purpose is not to create students in his own image, but to develop students who can create their own image.”
-- Author Unknown

“One looks back with appreciation to the brilliant teachers, but with gratitude to those who touched our human feelings. The curriculum is so much necessary raw material, but warmth is the vital element for the growing plant and for the soul of the child.”
-- Carl Jung

“A teacher is a compass that activates the magnets of curiosity, knowledge, and wisdom in the pupils.”
-- Ever Garrison
